4 day . Developing & Understanding the Artist's Skill Set
In this four day workshop Kenn will explain the important Skill Sets that the representational artist needs to develop and utilize. By definition, a skill is the ability to do something proficient. In general there are three primary skill set categories.
1. Knowledge-based
2. Transferable
3. Personality traits/attitude (also known as soft skills)
In my earlier years of painting, just getting the gear set up and painting a scene seemed to be the only goal I had. I soon came to understand that there is more to this world of art than I knew or understood. Goals needed to be set, but before establishing goals I needed to understand and develop a series of Skill Sets. Understanding and using these Skill Sets, launched my career as a representational painter.
The first two days of this workshop will be conducted indoors, and through my lectures, demonstrations and your painting efforts, we will define the Skill Sets which are the most important. The last two days we will paint on location applying these Skill Sets to better our efforts in the field. Understanding and applying your Skill Sets will put you on a solid path towards more productive and creative works.

Peggi begins with the fundamental of values. A key to solid design. Every morning will begin with warm up exercises and then move to specific lessons to emphasis a particular fundamental. Peggi stresses the importance of being well grounded in the fundamentals in order to manipulate them to express your individual "voice". We will cover a lot of canvas to get as much mileage and make as many decisions as possible; a necessary process to growth and understanding.
We will paint from 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m daily.

3 Day . Field to Studio
Painting outdoors is challenging. Learning what to select and omit to make a strong design is the goal. We are not obligated to paint everything as it is, the camera does that. Emphasis will be on simplifyingand organizing shapes. Beginning with a simple statement, we capture the shapes, values and light source quickly and then work toward a finished painting.
Demos along with visual aids will clarify the key elements discussed. Budicin’s goal is to share the knowledge he has, and give each student all he can through personal attention, direction, and group discussions. Class will begin with a short lecture and samples of Budicin’s approach, along with some completed field studies. Then the class will go directly on location and begin painting.
This is a 3 day course with one and a half to two days outdoors at selected locations and then in the studio utilizing your selected field work to produce a larger painting.
